Education and Experience
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of NC. I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work in August 2007. I worked for seven years as a staff therapist at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at UNC-Chapel Hill. At UNC, I saw undergraduate and graduate students for crisis assessment and individual therapy. I taught mindfulness meditation classes as well as yoga in group settings. I supervised UNC MSW students and supervised post-MSW fellows from other institutions. I led training seminars, taught workshops, and participated in outreach activities on campus. I also served as a liaison between CAPS and the LGBTQ Center at UNC for one academic year. Prior to working at UNC, I provided in-home therapy to kids and families with Carolina Outreach, a community-based mental health agency in the Triangle area, serving mostly low-income families.
I am a student and a teacher of mindfulness and yoga as well. I completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program in 2011. I taught yoga briefly at Durham Yoga Company and steadily from 2011 through 2017 at UNC through CAPS. I took a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Class in 2008 and have been practicing some form of meditation regularly ever since. I taught Mindfulness classes at UNC CAPS for several years while I was there.
I have completed Level I Somatics for White Racial Justice Organizers training, facilitated by Dara Silverman and Amanda Ream from Generative Somatics and the Strozzi Institute.
